OMET launches its Academy: Training and career opportunities for local young talents

Global Networking

OMET, a historic company from Lecco and now an international leader in the printing and tissue converting machinery sector, announces the launch of its own Academy — a structured initiative aimed at preparing young people for work through in-depth technical and industry-focused training. The project is aimed at recent high school graduates or those taking their first steps in the job market, particularly in the mechanical and electronic fields. Roles include assembly, testing, field service, and after-sales support, with the possibility of growing into other positions within a company that has always invested in internal growth.

The initiative is made up of two different onboarding tracks:

  1. IFTS Course (Higher Technical Education and Training)

A post-secondary program offering advanced technical specialization, open to candidates with a four- or five-year high school diploma, preferably in a technical field. The course is designed for approximately 12 participants and includes a total of 1,000 hours of training: 800 hours of practical, on-the-job experience within the company and 200 hours of academic training, delivered in partnership with a certified local training provider. The program will be carried out under a first-level apprenticeship contract and will lead to a legally recognized qualification.

  1. Professional apprenticeship contract

This program is intended for candidates with a five-year technical high school diploma. It offers young people the chance to join the company immediately with an employment contract, having already identified their desired career path at the time of entry. The program includes mandatory classroom training of 80 hours per year and is completed through hands-on learning, developing technical and professional skills directly in the field alongside experienced mentors. Potential career paths include mechanical assembler, testing technician, field service technician, electronic automation technician, service technician, and mechanical drafter.

Training activities at the OMET Academy will be organized into three main areas: mechanics, electronics, and printing (including assembly, testing, support, printing technologies, and inks). The program will also focus on developing soft skills, with particular attention to teamwork, communication, and customer relationship management.

“OMET strongly believes in young people and has always invested in their training. With the Academy, we want to offer them a real opportunity for both professional and personal growth, while strengthening our connection to the local area and building the skills needed to face the future of industry,” says Antonio Bartesaghi, OMET CEO.

This initiative stems from the awareness that training linked to local companies—recognized worldwide for their excellence in technology and innovation—represents a key lever in addressing the growing mismatch between the demand and supply of skilled technicians. OMET aims to respond concretely to this need with a focused, high-quality training program that opens the door to promising career paths.
