Takamul Industries strengthens its flexible packaging capabilities with OMET
From aluminium foil lids to advanced flexible packaging solutions, Express Flexi Pack continues its growth journey as part of Takamul Industries, investing in technology to support quality, efficiency and future market demands.
Based in the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai, Express Flexi Pack has been a well-established name in the Middle Eastern packaging industry since its foundation in 1996. Initially focused on the production of aluminum foil lids, the company progressively expanded its capabilities into laminates and BOPP labels, becoming a trusted supplier for the dairy, beverage, water and food sectors across the region. Today, its products reach customers in more than 25 countries throughout the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.
A significant milestone in the company’s history came in 2022, when Express Flexi Pack became part of Takamul Industries, one of the leading packaging groups in the GCC region. With operations spanning Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the group brings together expertise in flexible packaging, folding cartons and corrugated packaging through five specialized companies and a workforce of more than 1,000 employees.
To further strengthen its production capabilities and support future growth, Express Flexi Pack has recently invested in a new OMET Varyflex V2 printing press, currently being installed at its Dubai facility. The machine will support the production of a wide range of lids and laminate applications for customers in the dairy and beverage industries, where high print quality, consistency and production reliability are essential requirements.
“After evaluating several alternatives, we selected OMET because of its strong combination of print quality, production efficiency, technological capabilities and proven reliability,” says Shaker Akil, Takamul Industries’ CEO. “The Varyflex V2 offers the performance and flexibility required to support our current production needs while providing the scalability necessary for future growth.”
According to Akil, the decision was driven not only by the machine’s technical characteristics but also by the confidence inspired by OMET’s long-standing expertise in the printing and packaging industry.
“In addition to the technology itself, OMET’s industry knowledge, commitment to innovation and strong technical support gave us confidence that this investment would deliver long-term value and help us continue meeting our customers’ evolving requirements.”
The investment comes at a time when packaging converters throughout the region are facing increasingly demanding market conditions. While competition continues to intensify, Takamul Industries sees significant opportunities ahead for companies capable of combining operational excellence with continuous innovation.
“The market is becoming increasingly competitive, but we continue to see attractive growth opportunities across the region,” explains Akil. “Success will increasingly depend on a company’s ability to combine operational efficiency, innovation and responsiveness to customer needs. Businesses investing in technology, capabilities and long-term customer partnerships will be best positioned to capitalize on future opportunities.”
Looking ahead, the company expects customer expectations to continue rising, particularly in terms of service levels, quality standards and packaging performance.
“We see increasing demand for faster response times, just-in-time deliveries, improved print quality and more technically advanced packaging solutions that help brands differentiate themselves,” he says. “Sustainability also remains a key consideration across the entire value chain, driving innovation in both materials and manufacturing processes. As a result, success will increasingly depend on the ability to deliver quality, flexibility and continuous innovation.”
With the support of its new OMET Varyflex V2 and the strength of the Takamul Industries group, Express Flexi is well positioned to continue expanding its presence across the region while helping brand owners meet the evolving challenges of the packaging market.
